Three Influential Religion On Batik Art

Since the days of the Majapahit Kingdom, batik art is influenced by three religions, namely, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam. Most of the collection of batik Surakarta, Mangkunegaran, Yogyakarta, and Pakualaman get the influence of these three religions.

Less is more similar motifs created this palace of the four, only differ in the modification. Hindu influences seen in the picture motif eagle, flames, birds or tree of life. Meanwhile, more swastika motifs from Buddhist influence.

Abstract motifs began to be present when the influence of Islam. Prohibition of religion in the intact living drawing, making the batik artists deal with abstract animal images.
